Reconnecting with Old Friends

I had such a nice time last night! I've recently reconnected with a couple of my friends from when I was a kid. Sondra will probably remember them. It was my friend Carrie and her sister Celeste. Carrie and I met in 7th grade, and she was my best friend all through high school. We were always perfect angels together, and we never got into trouble. (Okay, we did get into just enough trouble to make life interesting. But my son reads my blog sometimes, so I won't go into detail.) When we were all growing up, I never thought that we'd ever loose touch. But somehow life takes us all in different directions. We get busy with our own families and responsibilities, and we loose touch. Yesterday was Carrie's birthday. So Celeste invited me to the birthday dinner for her.

It was the coolest thing seeing their children! They are of course all grown up now. And some even have children of their own. I just wanted to hug on them all night. But I resisted the temptation and only hugged them each once. They didn't remember me, so I didn't want to annoy them by being the strange lady who hugs and pinches cheeks too much. It was also great to see Carrie and Celeste's parents. They were like my 2nd parents when I was growing up. And were always so good to me. And Carrie and Celeste to me, seem like the same people I loved all those years ago. They are just more grown up with grown up problems to deal with. But they are both very strong and beautiful women who are an inspiration to me.

I wish I had pictures of when we were kids, but unfortunately I don't own even one. We did get a picture with the three of us together, and when I get a copy of that, I'll share it with you guys so you can see how beautiful they still are.

Kat, that's awesome. I love reconnecting with old friends. So nice how those bonds of friendship never die, even when you haven't seen them for so long.
